Since 2005

Our story

Twenty years on one stretch of Blackpool Road, run by one family, cooking one thing properly.

Buraq opened in 2005 as a small family business with a simple proposition: cook Indian food the way it is cooked at home, and don't cut corners to get plates out faster.

Two decades later that hasn't changed. The spice blends are still made in-house. The tandoor is still charcoal-fired. Curries are still built from a base that takes hours, then finished to order — which is why a busy Saturday sometimes runs slower than a chain, and why regulars keep coming back anyway.

What has changed is the room. What began as a modest restaurant now seats a large dining room, a licensed bar with a pierced brass screen, private space for parties, and a garden terrace that fills the moment the Fylde weather allows. In 2019 the English Curry Awards named Buraq the best restaurant in the North West; in 2021 the judges came back for Restaurant of the Year and Best Design & Ambience.

We have always taken customer feedback seriously and we always will. If something isn't right, tell us while you're here — that is how the menu got this good in the first place.

The building

Room for two, or for a hundred.

The conservatory front catches the last of the light. Behind it sits the main dining room, the bar, and a function space we lay out for birthdays, christenings, wakes and work dos.

There is a free car park directly outside, step-free access from it, and a walled garden at the back with two gazebos and heaters for summer evenings.
